TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

SAW Video seeks a full-time Technical Director to join our established artist-run centre as we embark on an exciting period of transformation. As Technical Director, you will play a key role in realizing the long-awaited expansion of SAW Video’s facility in a redeveloped Arts Court.  

The Technical Director manages SAW Video’s technical department and is responsible for booking and maintaining the post-production facilities at the centre.  They supervise the Equipment Manager who is responsible for bookings, maintenance and upkeep of SAW Video’s mobile equipment inventory; provides technical support for members in edit suites; plans equipment purchases in concert with the Equipment Manager and Director; assists in the writing of equipment grants and reports; and works with the Programming Director to oversee the equipment needs of our new Media Art Gallery.

Start date: mid-August, 2017 

Hours of work:  37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Starting salary: $35,100 with health/dental benefits plus 4 weeks vacation

 

Qualifications:

The selected individual will have many of the following competencies: 

  • Experience in the setup and configuration of digital editing equipment for both picture and sound;
  • Experience with video post-production software, ie. Adobe Premier CC, Final Cut, Davinci Resolve, Protools, and Logic Pro; 
  • Experience with audio editing and recording for video;
  • Technical experience in digital video production, and specifically with HD and 4k workflow; 
  • Excellent people skills and ability to multi-task;
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills; bilingualism is a strong asset;
  • Familiarity with media art exhibition equipment would be an asset;
  • IT experience in computer operating systems, networking and file management would be an asset.
