SAW Video Media Art Centre (Ottawa) seeks a full-time Equipment Manager for our busy equipment rental service. He/she will work with the Technical Director to provide production support to SAW Video members. This is a permanent full-time position.

Established in 1981, SAW Video is a not-for-profit, artist-run media art centre that fosters the growth and development of artists through access to equipment, training, mentorship, and programming. Our mission is to support a diverse community of media artists empowered by technology, programming and the exchange of ideas.

The Equipment Manager is responsible for all aspects of SAW Video’s production equipment, including equipment bookings; pickups/returns; purchases, maintenance and upkeep. He/she evaluates and ensures the competence of those using the equipment; prepares invoices for equipment rental, membership renewal, etc.; reviews equipment in relation to members’ needs, and works with the Technical Director, equipment committee and Director to prepare recommendations for future purchases and technical directions of the centre.

Hours of work: 11am - 6pm, Monday and Wednesday- Friday and 11am – 5pm Saturday.

Starting salary of $32,000 with health & dental benefits

Qualifications:

The selected individual will have: 

  • Technical experience in digital video production, specifically with HD cameras, audio, grip and lighting equipment;     

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills;

  • Familiarity with the local independent production community;

  • Familiarity with Final Cut Pro and Adobe software products is an asset; 

  • Fluency in English is required; oral and written competency in French is an asset.
