Independent producer and director of documentary films for many years, Jacques Ménard was also a producer and Deputy Head of French Program (Documentary) at the National Film Board of Canada (1995-2002). Films he produced have been screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, Le Festival des films du monde de Montreal, HotDocs! as well as the Leipzig and Nyon documentary festivals. In 2005, The Recipe Diaries, his latest documentary as director, won Gold at the World Food Media Awards in Australia. With Les Productions des collines Inc., he has produced Ma Part manquante for Télé-Québec’s “Questions de société” series and Arctic Hip Hop for Global Television’s “Global Currents” strand.
As a volunteer, Jacques Ménard has been deeply involved in the film and television milieu including a six-year run on the board and executive of the Documentary Organization of Canada. He has served on the board of the Canadian Film Institute, the Summer Film Institute and the Ottawa-Gatineau Film and Television Office. He also teaches part-time at both La Cité collégiale and the University of Ottawa.
