Call for proposals – SOUND/TRACKS
Imagine a different way of combining video and music. Imagine a new form of film soundtrack. Imagine an innovation in live music performance. This is not a music video. This is something much more.
SAW Video is currently accepting proposals from media artists and musicians in the Ottawa-Gatineau region to take part in SOUND/TRACKS. This is a unique commissioning project where videomakers will be teamed up with local bands to collaborate on an entirely new 15 minute-long audiovisual spectacle. You can apply as an individual media artist, as a band, or as a media artist & band combination. We will select/create up to four teams to participate.
Proposals should demonstrate an artistic vision and unique perspective that takes advantage of this special opportunity, and applicants are advised to consider the relatively short amount of production time. Work is slated to begin in early May 2014 and will culminate in an outdoor live performance and video screening extravaganza held in the SAW courtyard in early August.
Successful applicants will be offered up to $300 per team in production equipment rentals and artist fees will be paid for both the creation of the new works and the eventual screening/performance.
Interested applicants are required to submit a written proposal (maximum 2 pages) outlining their unique vision for the project, a resume (maximum 3 pages), and up to three pieces of support material. Audiovisual support material may be submitted on DVD, CD, file(s) on a USB key, or online Vimeo/Youtube link(s). The maximum total length of all audiovisual support material combined is 10 minutes. If you would like your support material returned to you, please include a note with your submission.
Send us your proposals by Friday May 2nd, 2014 if you would like them to be considered for SOUND/TRACKS.
You can also use the online submission form at the bottom of this page, or submit a paper application.
Applications can be dropped off at SAW Video in person or mailed to the following address:

The final selection of works will be made collectively by our Programming Committee.
